Wireless Planning and Coordination (ETA)

 

The Wireless Planning & Coordination (WPC) wing of the Ministry of Communication & IT, created in 1952 is a national radio regulatory nodal agency of the Government of India and is responsible for planning, regulating, and managing the limited resources of radio frequency spectrum and associated satellite orbits, including geo-stationary satellite orbit as well as licensing of wireless stations in the country under the Indian Telegraph Act 1885 and the wireless Indian Telegraphy Act  1933 (IWTA 1933), as statutory requirement. It caters the need of all wireless users in the country, government or private, security or non-security.

 

The Department of Telecommunications has assigned the responsibility to WPC for issuing the Equipment Type Approval certificate and Import licenses to the OEM’s, whose wireless equipment operating in delicensed band as per Indian Regulations. The WPC is a government body supporting the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) in managing and administrating the Equipment Type Approval & Import licenses and many other special licenses for TSP’s (Telecom Service Providers), Walkie-Talkie etc. 

 

The testing is to be carried out for conformance to Indian Gazette issued by WPC for the wireless equipment, by Indian and ILAC accredited labs. Test reports (CE & FCC) issued by ILAC accredited foreign labs were also accepted by WPC and based upon their test reports, ETA certificate shall be issued by WPC. Suppliers or manufacturers (OEM’s) of the equipment that is under the scope of regulations issued by WPC are required to ensure that their equipment meets the prescribed regulations issued by the WPC. 

 

Just submit the test reports and relevant documents signed by the authorized signatory to PAVONE Technologies and we assist you to get the ETA Certificate from WPC RLO/SDoC.

On 26th February 2019, WPC notified (O.M. No. ETA-WPC/Policy/2018-19 dated 26th February, 2019) that ETA through Self Declaration is permitted for commercial/finished products such as mobile/computing devices viz. mobile handsets, smartphones, electronic notepads, laptops, smart watches, Short Range devices including accessories, microphones, speakers, headphones, earphones, printers, scanners, cameras etc., operating in licensed exemption bands (DELICENSED or UNLICENSED) as permitted in India and also must be exempted from import license requirement as per the EXIM policy of DGFT.
